Database Performance Analyzer (DPA)
Monitoring and optimizing multiple DBMS platforms has never been simpler.
With support for over 10 major database platforms, DPA empowers DBAs to pinpoint the root cause of performance problems typically in seconds or minutes. Every query has different response times, and these times can vary during high volume and low-volume business hours. Anomaly detection powered by machine learning separates DPA from legacy performance monitoring products because it allows DBAs to identify abnormal query performance on Monday at 9 a.m. vs. Monday at 2 a.m. In addition to query and index tuning, the wait based analytics DPA will expose the end-users who are exposed to delays, why a query is slow, such as Network contention or as a VM delaying resource consumption for CPU or storage.
DPA transforms tuning from reactive to proactive by identifying the best optimization opportunities based on actual workload.
Broad database support
- Microsoft ® SQL Server, Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Database Managed Instance
- MySQL, MariaDB, Percona
- DB2 and SAP ASE (Sybase)
- Oracle (SE and EE), Oracle RAC, Oracle Exadata Oracle EBS
- PostgreSQL, EDB Postgres Standard or Advanced Server
- Azure: Azure Database for PostgreSQL, Azure Database for MariaDB and for MySQL
- Amazon: Amazon RDS for Oracle, Amazon RDS for MySQL, Amazon RDS for MariaDB, Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL, Aurora for MySQL, Aurora for PostgreSQL
WHAT IS RESPONSE TIME ANALYSIS?
Also referred to as wait-time analysis, response-time analysis (RTA) is the fastest, most efficient methodology to determine the root cause of slow app performance. DPA captures each step the database engine takes to respond to a SQL statement and determines how much time it takes to respond. DPA does the heavy lifting. It sifts through complex analysis data to pinpoint the offending query or resource bottleneck and then provides expert tuning advice to quickly resolve the problem.

Database Performance Monitor Overview
Database Performance Monitor (DPM) is a tool that can help you identify and troubleshoot performance issues in your database. Database Performance Monitor provides a wealth of information about your database’s performance, allowing you to pinpoint performance issues and take action to optimize your database for better performance. Here are some ways DPM can help pinpoint performance issues:
Real-time monitoring
Database Performance Monitor continuously monitors your database in real time, providing you with up-to-date information about its performance. This allows you to quickly identify any issues as they occur.
Query performance analysis
It can analyze the performance of individual SQL queries, identifying those that are taking too long to execute. It can also identify the most frequently executed queries, so you can optimize them for better performance.
Wait-time analysis
Database Performance Monitor can track the time your database spends waiting for resources, such as CPU or disk I/O. By identifying the sources of these wait times, you can optimize your database to reduce them.
Resource utilization analysis
SolarWinds Database Performance Monitor can monitor the usage of resources such as CPU, memory, and disk I/O, giving insight into where resources are being over-utilized or underutilized.
Alerting and notification
DPM can be configured to send alerts and notifications when it detects performance issues. This allows you to respond quickly to issues before they become more serious.
Benefits of using Database Performance Monitor
Database Performance Monitor can offer several benefits to your business by ensuring that your databases are operating efficiently and reliably. Here are some ways Database Performance Monitor can help your business:
Improved application performance
It can help identify and troubleshoot performance issues in your database, allowing you to optimize your queries and database configuration. This, in turn, can improve the performance of your applications that rely on the database.
Increased uptime
By monitoring your database in real-time, our tool can help you identify issues before they become major problems. This can help you avoid unexpected downtime, which can be costly to your business in terms of lost revenue and productivity.
Reduced operational costs
By optimizing your database performance, Database Performance Monitor can help reduce your operational costs. This can be achieved by improving the efficiency of your queries, reducing the number of resources your database requires, and avoiding unnecessary hardware upgrades.
Enhanced security and compliance
Database Performance Monitor can help you identify and address security vulnerabilities in your database, ensuring that your data is secure and compliant with regulatory requirements.
Improved decision-making
Database Performance Monitor provides you with detailed insights into your database performance, allowing you to make informed decisions about your database configuration and optimization strategies.
Monitoring databases with DPM
Monitoring database performance can help businesses optimize their database infrastructure, leading to improved application performance and reduced downtime. By monitoring key performance metrics such as CPU usage, memory usage, and disk I/O, businesses can identify any bottlenecks or resource constraints in their database system.
SolarWinds Database Performance Monitor can help your business achieve better database performance, reduced downtime, lower costs, and enhanced security and compliance, all of which can contribute to improved business outcomes.
